Winter Sports – Boys' Basketball

Basketball is played from the middle of November to the end of January. Our basketball teams are primarily formed by grade level where possible. All players that go out for a team will be placed on a roster.

At the 5th and 6th grade level the focus is on learning the athletic skill, game rules, fundamentals of team play, emotional growth and healthy competition. When there are large numbers of students participating in a sport, there may be multiple teams. At the 5th and 6th grade level teams will be divided equally by ability and skill level.

At the 7th and 8th grade level there is an increased emphasis placed on physical conditioning, refinement of the fundamental skills, elements and strategies of team play.

Team selection at the 7th and 8th grade lebvel will be based on ability and grade level whenever possible. There may be circumstances where the 7th and 8th grade level will be combined to form teams.
