Our History

Located in the heart of Phoenix, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School is an accredited Catholic elementary school that has served the community since 1953 when it began as a first through fourth grade elementary school.

The temperate climate of the area and the school's mission-style buildings are as inviting as they were decades ago. There are open spaces for athletic and social events that attract the families of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School. Classrooms continue to accommodate the average size of 30 students.

Fortunately, through the efforts of those who have contributed their time and money over the years, the facilities have been updated. Physical improvements over the years include a science laboratory, computer labs, library, health room, cafeteria, basketball courts, football / baseball fields, fitness court, and a playground for grades K-2.

The classroom content has evolved over time, and now includes Spanish, guidance counseling, K-8 specialists, computer training, and after school programs.

Many St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School alumni have proudly enrolled their own children, and some have returned as staff members. St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School is one of the largest Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Phoenix with an average enrollment of 570 students.
